More structure to our longeing session today. A normal garden hose plus an abnormal scent define the perimeter of our working area, and I’ve placed my Ellie dog at the center of the setup to emphasize that Monkey’s friends are always inside the ring. I’m still orienting Monkey to the freedom permitted by my longe and the rule that Pulling Gets You Nowhere. At the end of our session, as a reward, I let him drag the longe and decide where we’ll go next, and I release Ellie from her bed so that she can provide a good example for how to behave at liberty.
